Winnipeg, the Cultural Capital of Canada, would be the best place to buy a condo in Manitoba. There are hundreds of options to choose from Winnipeg condominiums.

And being Manitoba's capital and largest city, the benefits of being a resident there would be diverse.

Here are nine pieces of information regarding buying a condo in Winnipeg that will help you decide in going through with the purchase.

1. More Value for your Money

You will see in this infographic that it's more economical for you to buy a condo in Winnipeg than the other 10 capital cities in Canada.

Canada's real estate markets are famously varied, ranging from the intergalactically expensive to the almost unreasonably affordable, but the infographic below really brings this home.

2. Home Inspectors

There are skilled home inspectors in Winnipeg that you can contact to help you check out the condo that you're going to buy. Here's the tip from a Wedding Magazine from Winnipeg:

Get a home inspection.

When you're in the heat of the moment and you finally find the house of your dreams, the last thing you're thinking about is getting a home inspection. However, doing so can save you a world of heartache! House inspectors have seen it all: they're the only ones that can save you from buying a house with a cracked foundation, faulty electrical system, leaky roof, insects, rodents, and more. Buyer agreements can be made contingent upon a successful home inspection, and it's definitely worth it.Winnipeg2

6. More People are Buying Condos in Winnipeg

Just over a year ago, a report was made by CBC News regarding the increase in condo sales in the capital of Manitoba. Apparently, more and more people are realizing how great a place Winnipeg is. Here is an excerpt of that report:

Winnipeg condo sales surge; first-time buyers eyed

City developers are hoping to capitalize on that growth, as condo developments continue to pop up across the city.

Two major structures are under development on Sherbrook Street and another on Assiniboine Avenue.

Not far away on Waterfront Drive, a 300-condo building is under development.

And Karampaul Sandhu, the president of Sandhu Developments, says more are on the way.

The company is currently selling units at its D Condo development on Assiniboine and has plans for more buildings in the city.

“We're 30 per cent sold since our launch event in November, so a pretty good rate of sales throughout the winter,” said Sandhu.

The building holds 91 units over 24 floors and is the company's fourth project in the city.

Sandhu said they hope to expand their development to create six more buildings over the next 10 years.

He said demand for condos has been high in the city.

“People are busier. They don't want to deal with certain maintenance issues,” said Sandhu.

7. Real Sense of Security

In this tweet by a security company in Winnipeg, we will see how we can feel more secured while living in a condo.

Here's an excerpt of that article featured in that tweet:

The best part about closer quarters is that condo communities often become like extended families, where the members look out and care for one another. This can give residents a real sense of security and many seek this kind of environment when purchasing a new condo.

This is not to say that the facility itself cannot offer privacy. You are particularly able to maintain a higher level of privacy if your unit has amenities that allow you to avoid common areas. For example, terraces mean that you do not have to visit rooftop or courtyard gardens for exposure to the outdoors.

Of course there is a flip side to this coin; many people want social interaction and an active community life within the convenience of their building, especially as temperatures drop. Itís lovely to chat with 16B while waiting for the elevator or find out how 10Cís children are doing at college while collecting your mail. The upshot is that you can be as involved in your building community as you would like.

Whether or not you have close friends living in your building, you can achieve a high level of security. Consider developing a neighbourhood watch-type program, where friends check on each otherís units when someone is out of town.

If you would rather leave your security to building design and security staff, this is another option. Here are some things to consider to ensure your building offers maximum security.
Hold the door

Even in a building with a concierge and entry codes, part of the security rests with residents. I enter many condos each week where people hold the door open for me, often with a smile and never asking, “Who are you?”

Though the door openers are being friendly and helpful, they really need to ask the important question. In large developments, it's highly unlikely you will get to know every neighbour so it behooves you to find out if they live in the building before admitting them.

It really is up to condo residents and their guests to make sure the entrance opens only for authorized visitors. Some people may feel awkward about not holding a door open, but this one thing is an extremely important issue that all condo buildings should discuss at length. Everyone must do his or her part as a team to make the building secure.

Finally, the 9th thing you must know about buying a condo in Winnipeg is that it's a good deal. For Winnipeg is not only a beautiful city but it also has good people in it. Like what Joanna Fultz of the Canadian Geographic Travel has said, “Winnipeg never falls flat on attractions ñ or heart.” You will not regret living there.

From rave reviews to gushing praise, see what people are saying about Winnipeg.

I was in Winnipeg this past October and had a great time. The people were very hospitable, we in the Maritimes, pride ourselves on being friendly but we have nothing on you folks. I also wanted to mention that the Spirit bus was just great, I used it often. One of the very best vacations I have had. Thanks Winnipeggers
– Irene, Maritimes

Lovely place. Charming, accessible. The people are very friendly and social. Lots of good places to get a drink, listen to music. Very surprised to find this very vibrant art community there.
– Timothy Olyphant, actor. Toronto Star

The prairies may bore the pants off drivers, but Winnipeg never falls flat on attractions ñ or heart.
– Joanna Fultz, Canadian Geographic Travel

Touching down in the largest city in Manitoba, Winnipeg, I quickly realized that this city had a very rich past that people were very proud of.
– Frances Kiradjian, Travel Mole

Recognized as a hotbed of artistic talent, Winnipeg has a reputation for cold, sunny winters and warm, welcoming folks ñ a Prairie trademark.

Saunter east across the stunning cabled Esplanade Riel pedestrian bridge and enter a Winnipeg neighbourhood where bistros, boutiques and bilingual conversations spill from Provencher Boulevard, the grand tree-lined street that runs through the heart of the cityís Quartier Francais.
– Barbara Edie, up! Magazine

On Winnipegís Corydon Avenue, hungry visitors can find everything from pasta to perogies, gelato to gyoza. This walkable, European-style neighbourhood is known as Manitobaís largest outdoor shopping centre for its many boutiques and cafes. But we love it best for its abundance of perfect, people-watching patios.
– Joanne Sasvari, Wine Access

Square Peg? No way. Winnipegs summer sizzle includes excellent festivals, sun that shines with astonishing brightness and some of the best white silica sand beaches right outside [its] doorstep.
