One of the wealthiest suburban communities and arguably one of the most beautiful in the city. Bordered by the lovely greenery of Assiniboine Park and Forest to the west and the meandering Assiniboine River to the north, Tuxedo (comprised of Old Tuxedo, Tuxedo, and South Tuxedo) is a much-coveted area of the city to live in.Tuxedo - Winnipeg's Prestigious Luxury Neighbourhood

Bordered by Kenaston Boulevard and Taylor Avenue, Tuxedo is located just southwest of downtown and is easily accessible by car, bus, or bicycle. Old Tuxedo especially is a common route for cyclists to take on a Sunday afternoon, and the impressive houses and well-cared roads and yards make it a popular drive for visiting relatives. Assiniboine Park and Assiniboine Forest have walking and bicycling trails to enjoy. There are also big fields to play team sports in Assiniboine Park, as well as the Assiniboine Park Zoo, fire pits, a duck pond, gardens, and a brand new playground for children.

Getting around this prestigious neighbourhood

On the weekdays, when a leisurely bike ride along the picturesque bike paths isn’t an option, and if you don’t want to battle traffic during rush hour, you can take a number of buses. Routes 95 (Tuxedo – Riverview), 18 (Corydon – Main), and 67 (the Charleswood Express) are all easily accessible, taking you across Winnipeg.

Grocery stores and shopping centres are abundant: just head over to the Tuxedo Park Shopping Centre, 2025 Corydon, which has everything from a Safeway to a dental group to Starbucks to banks and more! From Tuxedo, take a drive down Corydon, which is lined with shops and restaurants such as the Paper Gallery and the Greek Market. Grant Avenue runs right through Tuxedo, making it easy to access the Grant Park Mall; Kenaston Boulevard and Taylor Avenue are also great roads to take if you need anything from a gym to a bookstore. The Tuxedo Community Centre, 368 Southport Boulevard, is perfect for youth with over 15 sports programs and a preschool program.

Schools in the area

There are a number of schools in the Tuxedo area for a wide range of groups. École Tuxedo Park, a French Immersion school located at 2300 Corydon Avenue, teaches students from Kindergarten to grade six. Laidlaw School can be found at 515 Laidlaw Boulevard, and is available for students from Kindergarten to grade eight. The Gray Academy of Jewish Education, located at 123 Doncaster Street, is a Junior Kindergarten to grade 12 school providing education on both Jewish and general academic programs. St. Paul’s High School, a Catholic all-boys school for grades nine to 12, can be found at 2200 Grant Avenue. And for university students, there’s the very close by Canadian Mennonite University at 500 Shaftesbury Boulevard, offering degrees in undergraduate and graduate studies. Your choices are nearly endless!
