4th annual Woof-Walk for D’Arcy’s A.R.C.
As a real estate agent in #Winnipeg, I had been looking for a charity which I could support. There are many good causes out there, but when I met D’Arcy Johnston, of D’Arcy’s Animal Rescue Centre, and heard his story, I knew that I wanted to support him. He does wonderful things to care for stray and neglected dogs and cats in our city, and his facility at 730 Century St is definitely worth a visit.
So last week I issued a challenge on some of the social networks, facebook, google+ and twitter: I would donate $1.00 for every comment and share of THAT particular post. Almost as an afterthought, I placed a $1,000 limit on the offer (kinda glad I did).
Results: Within 15 hours we had hit the 1,000 share and/or comment mark, a large portion coming from the fans of D’Arcy’s Facebook Page. More than half of the comments and share’s came from that one group alone. Google + also really stepped up, with over 500 shares and comments coming from that platform.
So on Saturday, Sept 13th, 2014, I was very happy and proud to present a cheque for $1,000 to D’Arcy Johnston in support of his great charity.
The Woof-Walk was a great success with hundreds of supporters turning up and taking part in the walk, BBQ and watching the dog agility demonstration. Congratulations, D’Arcy’s A.R.C., we look forward to supporting you again at the 5th annual Woof-Walk next year.
