Backyards are the center of entertainment for many families. Maybe when you first moved in, your plan included a backyard retreat complete with a swimming pool. Make a Backyard Skate Park
If your little one wants to try their hand at kickflips and ollies, you might consider offering your old pool as a potential site for a skate park. Take care of your pool deck with simple patio paver maintenance, and your skateboarders can have a place to practice at home. You may need to build a ramp and up your insurance policy, but it could be worth it.
Use It as a Water Feature
If you have an old swimming pool that no longer works, why not turn it into a water feature? It's easy to do and will make your backyard look beautiful. You can transform the pool into a pond and fill it with koi fish! You will need additional liners, pumps, and filters to accomplish this. The pump will circulate the water while the filter keeps it clean for plants and animals to thrive in.
Turn It Into an Outdoor Theater
Another innovative way to repurpose an old pool is to turn it into an in-ground, outdoor theater. If your pool is deep enough, you can climb in with pillows, blankets, and lawn chairs and project movies on the wall's surface. Share your favorite childhood movies with your kids under the stars. The only issue is keeping the area clean of debris after rainstorms or windy days. Whatever you choose, you'll want to make sure you're increasing the property value of your home. Leaving an empty, unused space could lead to a disaster.
Get More Use Out of Your Yard
There are plenty of other ways to recycle an old pool—from turning it into a greenhouse to filling it up with dirt for a garden bed. This is just a starting point to spark your creativity. The goal is to get the most out of your backyard and truly enjoy your outdoor space.
