Probably the most common questions any real estate agent is asked, revolves around ‘timing’. “When is the best time to sell my home”, or “What’s a good time to buy”?
The answer to this really depends on the state of the current real estate market. Remember that even a small place like Winnipeg is made up of dozens of different markets: Are you selling a luxury condo? Or a starter home? An investment property?
Generally speaking, a home seller wants to hit that time of year when the numbers of listings are low, but buyer activity is high (or at least rising).
Winnipeg’s current market is VERY favourable to home sellers right now! There are just over 840 houses and around 470 condos for sale in the Winnipeg market.
How does this compare to the rest of the year? In October we had 1443 houses and over 700 condos for sale. The result: Currently we have a low number of available listings for sale, but buyer activity is starting to pick up. This will mean that a new listing will get plenty of attention from buyers, because they have very little else to chose from.
